剧情：
马特（丹泽尔·华盛顿 Denzel Washington 饰）和同为警员的妻子艾利克斯（伊娃·门德斯 Eva Mendes 饰）冷战已久，多年的婚姻濒临崩溃的边缘。这个节骨眼上，马特曾经暗恋过的女孩安（桑娜·莱瑟 Sanaa Lathan 饰）和她瘫痪在床的丈夫克瑞斯（迪恩·凯恩 Dean Cain 饰）搬回了小镇，这让马特的心情久久不能平静。 交谈中，马特意外的得知安患上了癌症，只有一种花费昂贵的治疗才能挽救她的性命，绝望之中，安和马特打起了克瑞斯的巨额保险的主意，后者更是利用职务之便，为安提供了一笔巨款。没想到意外发生了，安和克瑞斯的公寓燃起了大火，两具难以辨认的尸体出现在公众的视线之中，而本该在那里的巨款却不翼而飞。种种迹象表明，马特似乎被卷入了一个阴谋之中。
