剧情：
马蒂亚斯（凯文·克莱恩 Kevin Kline 饰）继承了父亲的房子，他来到巴黎，想要将房子卖掉，以弥补经济上的捉襟见肘。然而，当他来到自己的房子里是，面对的却是两个陌生的女人——马蒂尔德（玛吉·史密斯 Maggie Smith 饰）和她的女儿克洛伊（克里斯汀·斯科特·托马斯 Kristin Scott Thomas 饰）。 原来，两人是父亲生前的房客，按照法律规定，如果马蒂亚斯坚持将房产变卖，那么他就必须按月向马蒂尔德支付房租。马蒂亚斯和马蒂尔德达成了暂住协议，却依旧没有打消卖房子的念头，克洛伊对看似狡猾的马蒂亚斯充满了戒备，然而，随着时间的推移，两人发现了彼此之间的共同点，一种奇妙的感情油然而生。
